Stagecoach

In viewing the movie Stagecoach I have found it humorous on the Indians are depicted. Though, I think this is only a good thing because it shows that we understand the unfair biased of these old movies. The Indians are shown as the bad guys, and as savages, while the hero Ringo has to fight them off. How ironic is it that Ringo is fighting off the Indians when the Indians had their land invaded.

Movies always need good guys and bad guys, but I am just curious why the fashionable thing to do back then was dinstinguish the Indians so bluntly being the bad goods. In any case, Stagecoach has one hero we can root for - Ringo. He has to avenge the deaths of his father and brother, and is also falling for Dallas who many people thought was untouchable. I think it is clear the audience always needs someone to root for me, but I am just glad now days we are seeing the other point of view, too.

I also wrote in my post about how the portrayal of the natives was but I couldn't help but poiting out your use of the word "indian". I thought it was rather humerous that there you were supporting them and speaking of the irony that there land was invaded, but there you are using the word indian. Over all though solid job, but for the record they were Native Americans.

Danny-
I also agree that this was a very deep post. One of the best I've read. I haven't seen much of stagecoach because of my absenses, but from what I've seen I think it is also very ironic that they're fighting off the indians who they stole they're land from. They should be thanking the indians for their land.

Hey DAN!

Even though we didn't watch the same movie, you mentioned the characters in the movie as either being established as good or bad, and I think not only does this pertain to your movie, but mine as well, and probably to many other westerns. I think it's probably an important aspect in westerns and is a good point to make. good work
